KUCHING: Active case detection (ACD) for Covid-19 was carried out at Milan Square, Jalan Wan Alwi here on Monday (Jan 11).

This was done following the declaration of the Stutong Cluster on Jan 3, which has recorded 23 cases as of Sunday.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the ACD, which was done with multiple agencies team, was part of the community surveillance in areas that had high numbers of positive cases.

“It (swab test) is free, but it also needs public cooperation — to come forward to be polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tested for the success of the programme,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He added that there would be more ACD being carried out here in view of the surge in cases of the fourth wave of Covid-19.

“No need to panic, please come forward to help. Your action will save lives.”

Dr Sim also said those who came forward to get tested were playing their part in ensuring those around them, such as their families, colleagues and friends, are safe from the virus.
