KUALA LUMPUR: National applied research and development (R&D) agency, Mimos Bhd and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) have sealed a partnership to further enhance national airports’ maintenance capabilities by adopting advanced technologies.
The three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) will provide technical advisory for the development of MAHB’s Unified Internet of Things (IoT) technology platform with machine learning capabilities for predictive maintenance of its airports’ facilities and systems.
In a statement, Mimos chief technology officer Thillai Raj said they will work closely with MAHB in supporting Industry4WRD (National Policy on Industry 4.0) by rendering expertise in relevant advanced technologies, focusing on enhancing MAHB’s predictive maintenance capabilities.
“To improve overall operational efficiency and enhance airport experience, it is crucial to employ technologies that are able to detect operational anomalies.
“Combining the power of IoT, machine-learned model and edge computing, our solutions will strengthen MAHB’s predictive maintenance capabilities, hence providing support in more precise decision-making,” he said.
Meanwhile, MAHB group chief executive officer Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin said the airport operator had been intensifying efforts to improve operational efficiency and service quality at its airports to ultimately transform into a service leader.
“In fact, our Service Culture Transformation Programme is currently ongoing and I truly hope that our employees are fully embracing the concept of ‘creating happy guests by becoming caring hosts’,” he said. – Bernama
