KUCHING: The full-dress rehearsal for the national-level 2023 Malaysia Day celebration (HKHM) tomorrow  (Sept 16), was held at Stadium Perpaduan here last night.

Communications and Digital (KKD) Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is the chairman of the HKHM 2023 celebration main committee , was present to oversee the preparations and the full rehearsal.

He was accompanied by Datuk Julaihi Narawi, the Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication, and minister-in-charge of the celebration.

The stage came alive with dancers dressed in vibrant ethnic costumes representing Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage of the Iban, Orang Ulu, Melanau, Chinese, Malay and Bidayuh, among others.

The celebration will showcase dance performances from three regions — Peninsula Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak, featuring contributions from the Combined Arts Group of the National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN), Dayak Cultural Foundation, and Petra Dancers and Dance Artists under JKKN.

Celbrants can witnessing the raising of the Jalur Gemilang flag, a captivating musical drama and a dance performance inspired by the song ‘Segulai Sejalai,’ which is also the national unity slogan, meaning ‘Together in Unity’.

The celebration will be broadcast live on all mainstream television channels, including RTM, TV3, Bernama, Astro channel 122, TVS, myFreeview and official Facebook of KKD and Department of Information Malaysia.

LED screens would also be provided outside Stadium Perpaduan where the celebrations will take place to allow the people to follow the event.

The celebration themed, ‘Malaysia Madani Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’ is expected to be graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib.

Also expected to attend are Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his wife Datin Seri Julia Salag.

Among those who attended the full-dress rehearsal were Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister of Women and Child Development Datuk Rosey Yunus, Sarawak Government Deputy Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee, KKD Secretary General Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Senior Division Secretary (Management) Mazlan Abd Mutalib.
