KUCHING: Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah has expressed hope that her ministry—Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development—would be given more funds.
She said the money would not just be for schools structure-wise but also for students in terms of welfare and education.
“Hopefully under the new administration, there will be more allocations channeled to the (education) ministry.
“We know that as ministers, allocations given to us are very limited, especially when it comes to the organising of sports competitions, our allocations are not able to cover everything and may just cover the cost of food and drinks,” she said during her visit to SeDidik Perdana Pending yesterday.
On the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results, in which three students scored 11A+, she noted that each improvement, no matter how little it might be, should be celebrated.
“Hence, I congratulate the Education Department in state, division and district levels, principals, teachers, students and parents for contributing to the improvement of the results.”
