KUCHING: The Ministry of Human Resource will decide whether to proceed with the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) in Serian after it has submitted a report to the Ministry of Finance.

Human Resource Minister M Kula Segaran said one of the reasons he went to Serian yesterday was to see the project site.

“That is one of the reasons I went there today. I will go and report to the Finance Ministry and then we will make a decision,” he told a media conference after a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the State Legislative Assembly building yesterday.

“Whether it takes off or not is neither here nor there. I was looking more into giving children a place to study so we will look at it favourably.

“It is good that I went there today (yesterday) because I don’t want to make a decision sitting in my air-conditioned office.

“Finance is not under my jurisdiction. I can only make recommendations,” he said.

It was mentioned by the previous Human Resource Minister that the Ministry of Finance had already approved the project.

“I learnt to mind my own business and mind my own ministry because the money comes from them (Ministry of Finance),” said Kula.

“I saw the whole thing with my own eyes and it puts me in a better position to make my report. I was trying to get in touch with the former minister, Richard Riot, but he was not around.”
