SARIKEI: Assistant Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh described the statement by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on Sarawak will go bankrupt in three years’ time as baseless.
He added that Sarawak has huge savings as well as proving it is responsible and very prudent in managing its finances to cover various expenses especially for the needs of the people in the long term.
“This year’s budget has a surplus. In fact, the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has assured that the budget surplus will not affect the existing luggage.
“As finance minister, he (Lim Guan Eng) should not speak like a kindergarten pupil. I think it’s a baseless, politically motivated and deliberately wanting support.
“I am confident and trust that Sarawakians will not easily believe such mischief,” he said.
He also noted that the statement was also meant to distract the people on various issues affecting Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“The federal government needs to be more committed and serious in helping Sarawak deal with a wide range of issues including dilapidated rural schools.
“PH was supposed to help Sarawak carry out more development activities but failed to do so. Do not use these cheap tactics just to get the people’s attention.
“I am concerned that the Finance Ministry is headed by a minister who does not have the experience, knowledge and expertise in the field of economics. This could affect the country’s financial position should he continue to remain in office,” Len pointed out.
