KUCHING: The Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESTy) has affirmed its commitment to ensuring the success of the upcoming 13th Asian Aerosol Conference (AAC) 2024.
Minister Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni also encouraged participation from agencies under the ministry as well as local companies to be part of the inaugural conference in Malaysia.
This came during a courtesy visit by the Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia (MyCAS) to Dr Hazland recently.
Slated to be held from Nov 3 to 7 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), AAC 2024 is expected to attract over 500 participants from both domestic and international arenas.
Jointly organised by MyCAS and the Asian Aerosol Research Assembly (AARA), the conference the largest aerosol conference in Asia.
MyCAS in a statement expressed confident that this conference will facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge technology in aerosol science research, benefiting Asian countries, particularly Malaysia.
“The conference has also garnered interest from industry exhibitors involved in aerosol technology.
“Attendees will include industry professionals, scientists, researchers, and policymakers in the field of aerosol science and air pollution control technology,” the statement read.
The MyCAS delegation was led by its president Ts Dr Noor Zaitun Yahaya, included MyCAS deputy president Prof Dr Juliana Jalaludin and five top committee members from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak, Universiti Malaya (UM), and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), who are currently on a technical visit to the city.
Also present were representatives from MEESTy’s affiliated government agencies, including Penny Sumok and Tsai Koh Fen from the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), as well as Marconi Madai and Ir Robin Tigai from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).
