PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Human Resources is confident that the amendment to the Industrial Relations Act (IRA) 1967, to be tabled in the Dewan Negara this week, will get the support from its members.
Minister M. Kula Segaran said despite the objection by the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC), the ministry would continue with the tabling of the IRA 1967 and at the same time respect the views of all parties.
“Government is confident (that the Act will be passed), this is why I bring this. (The amendment) is for the well-being of workers in this country,” he told reporters after attending the ministry’s ‘Meet the Consumers Day’ here today.
Meanwhile, Kula Segaran said, to date, the ministry had organised the Meet the Consumers Day here 48 times since January which involved the participation of 16 agencies under the ministry and a total of 2,145 customers.
“Every Tuesday from 8 am to 10 am, we will have the meet the people programme and the agencies involved will assist those with problems or issues, face-to-face. – Bernama
