The International Trade and E-Commerce Ministry is coordinating visits to seven trade expositions, mostly overseas, in the next half of this year.
International Trade and e-Commerce Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said the purpose of the expositions was to exhibit and promote Sarawak products.
He said local entrepreneurs could participate in the Food and Hotel Myanmar 2019 event which would take place in Yangon from June 5- 7 this year.
All major stakeholders and leaders of Myanmar’s food and hospitality industry would be at the event, he added.
“My ministry has informed of the relevant business associations of the trade fairs and asked to nominate their members to participate in them,” he explained.
Besides that, Sarawak entrepreneurs can also participate in the Food Taipei 2019 in Taiwan from June 19- 22.
“We encourage more new local companies which are ready to export to participate and seek international market opportunities,” he said.
According to Wong, Sarawak entrepreneurs will also participate in the ANUGA 2019 in Germany from October 5- 9.
The world’s largest trade fair, it is held once every two years.
Sarawak entrepreneurs can also join the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai from November 5-10.
Wong added another international trade fair was the Pacific International Maritime Exposition (PACIFIC 2019) to be held in Sydney, Australia from October 8–10.
“Specifically held to meet the needs of the broad spectrum of maritime industries, it is the first import exhibition in the world to explore the Chinese market,” he said.
Meanwhile, Malaysia International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB 2019) will be held in Kuala Lumpur from June 26- 28. It is the country’s largest food and beverage focused trade event participated by more than 600 companies from 50 over countries.
“In these coming expositions, we hope to exhibit and promote more varieties of products including building materials, maritime vessels and equipment and furniture apart from the food and beverages, timber products as well as crafts,” added Wong.
