SIBU: The Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development through the Welfare Department has rendered aid to three households that were affected by a recent fire that broke out in Kampung Bahagia Jaya Tengah, Teku.
The aid, amounting to RM15,400, consists of food and drinks, clothing, school uniforms for the children, pocket money, sleeping equipment, kitchen utensils, as well as a monetary sum for them to rebuild their houses.
The Dalat assemblywoman said that the assistance can help the family in facing the difficult times.
“For the disabled victim, we will help him obtain a new special mattress as the previous one was destroyed in the fire,” she said when met by reporters during her visit to the fire scene here today.
Fatimah also noted that the government also provided assistance totalling RM70,000 to help rebuild the houses destroyed in the fire.
Therefore, she hoped that the process of building new homes for the victims would be managed well and the victims could move into their new homes promptly.
On Wednesday, thirteen people from three families were left homeless after a fire destroyed two houses at Kampung Bahagia Jaya Tengah.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the 5.18 am incident as the tenants managed to evacuate to safety.
