SERIAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs’ (KPDNHEP) role is to create awareness and produce knowledgeable consumers, motivated to act and are able to solve problems through the right channels.

“The ministry is constantly stepping up efforts to disseminate information to the public so that consumers are empowered,” said Deputy Minister for Agriculture Modernisation and Regional Development Martin Ben at the closing ceremony of a consumer advocacy programme here.

“2022 is the year that focuses on user advocacy where educational delivery programmes and activities consumption will be further intensified,” he added.

“Consumers are also advised to assist the ministry in reporting the misconduct of traders through the correct complaint channels.

“Users are also advised to obtain reliable information to avoid panic in the community,” said the Kedup assemblyman.

Also present were Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, Sarawak KPDNHEP deputy director Adyzam Abd Manap and Serian District officer Lim Hock Meng.
