KUCHING: The Malaysian Family Sales Programme which received an overwhelming response from consumers will carry on in the state.

“The response from consumers and traders in Sarawak has been very encouraging,” said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry director Datuk Stanley Tan.

“The latest Program Jualan Keluarga Malaysia was implemented in more than 46 locations covering all parliamentary constituencies throughout the state of Sarawak.

“About 53,415 people swamped the programme with total sales reaching RM832,934.54,” he added.

The programme, launched on Dec 2 last year, was implemented at the state level in an effort to help the people mitigate the cost of living.

The Prime Minister himself has requested the programme to be expanded to cover all parliamentary constituencies so that more people can enjoy goods offered at prices up to 20 per cent lower than the local market price.

A total of 173 enforcement officers and 101 price monitoring officers of the ministry in the state will continue to carry out monitoring and inspection to ensure supply is always stable and there is no element of profiteering in the market.
