SIBU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) here will continue to monitor the situation to ensure there is enough supply of chicken and chicken eggs.
Its Sibu chief, Kelyn Bolhassan @ Haliward said the ministry would continue to meet with industry players and related government agencies to ensure sufficient supply of the two items.
“The government has acted by extending the Maximum Price Scheme for the two items until June 30, including Grade A, B and C of chicken and chicken eggs.
“Action will be taken against irresponsible traders under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering 2011.
“If convicted, an individual will be fined RM100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years, or both, or a compound of up to RM50,000 while a fine of up to RM500,000 or a compound of up to RM250,000 will be imposed for a company.”
Kelyn urged the public to report unscrupulous traders to the ministry. The public can lodge their complaints via the Ez ADU app, or e-aduan.kpdnhep.gov.my or Sibu KPDNHEP, 1st Floor, Wisma Persekutuan, Block 3.
