KUCHING: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development is committed to intensifying religious activities as an effort to strengthen family institutions and address social issues in the coming years.
Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah stated that collaboration with relevant agencies or organisations will be enhanced to contribute to community wellbeing.
“From the perspective of strengthening family institutions, it is crucial to have strong and stable families as they form the foundation of wellbeing in society. Therefore, I believe that, to achieve this, the religious aspect needs to be emphasised.
“This includes addressing the social issues faced by our people, so if the objectives of the ministry are similar (to non-governmental organisations), we can collaborate.”
Fatimah made these remarks after receiving a courtesy visit from a delegation of Harakah Islamiah (HIKMAH) Hal Ehwal Wanita (Helwa) at Baitulmakmur II Building yesterday.
She believes that HIKMAH HELWA can be a strategic partner in implementing beneficial programmes for women by 2024.
She said the collaboration between both parties (ministry and HIKMAH) indirectly provides a platform for any individual in need to participate in any programmes organised by the ministry or department.
“Through this collaboration, I believe we can extend the reach of services to groups that have not previously received the offered assistance.
“It is a very good strategy that benefits both parties, including those who are marginalized or in remote areas, ensuring they do not miss out on the services we provide,” Fatimah added.
The courtesy visit was led by the chairperson of the HIKMAH Women’s Committee, Toh Puan Hayati Ahmat.
