MIRI: Ten government clinics serving rural communities in the Baram constituency will be getting access to electricity round-the-clock.
Presently the health facilities are replying on generator sets for power supply.
“We want to solve electricity problems in rural clinics and I believe it is important that clinics should always be bright as it is the place frequented by people seeking treatment,” said Deputy Ministry of Health Lukanisman Awang Sauni who gave the undertaking on Sunday.
Speaking at the opening of the Sarawak Kayan Association’s (PKS) 8th Triennial General Meeting he said the Health Ministry was also planning to establish a cancer centre in Kuching, and turn Sibu and Miri hospitals into regional hospitals in Sarawak.
“Via the unity government, we want Sarawak to obtain dignified health facilities to serve its people,” he pointed out.
At the event, Lukanisman announced an allocation of RM15,000 to the association.
Also present were PKS president Dennis Ngau cum Telang Usan Assemblyman and Temenggong Elizabeth Ding.
