KUCHING: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) welcomes research by public and private universities.
Deputy Higher Education Minister, Senator Datuk Dr Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad said researchers could apply for Research and Development (R&D) grants according to their areas of focus for research work
He added that the grants were not limited to public universities in Malaysia. Private universities could also apply for them.
“If a university wants to conduct research but does not have a grant, it can contact MOHE or the relevant agencies and ministries directly.
“For example, if researchers want to do a study on employment among the people in Sarawak, then they can contact directly the Ministry of Human Resources.
“Similarly with other studies, these academics can apply for grants to the relevant agencies or ministries according to the field they are studying,” he explained.
Masrizal said this when met by reporters after officiating at the Closing Ceremony of the Unimas 2022 Innovation and Technology Exhibition (InTEX22) here.
He said good studies could enhance ties between the industries and academia and ultimately have positive impacts on the state as well as the country.
