KUCHING: The Ministry of Utilities through the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) was well informed on the water supply problems in Bau and the surrounding areas as reported in the recent newspapers.
JBALB had informed that the inconsistency of water supply was due to the leakage of pipes at Jalan Selalang/Tondong and Kampung Sibuluh due to the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway.
In addition, an air valve leakage (single air valve) was detected at Jalan Keranji which occurred between Nov 28 and Dec 3.
The works on the pipe and valve leakages had been done promptly by JBALB and Pan Borneo Contractors and water supply had gradually returned in the affected areas.
‘ In the event of any problem with water supply disruption or leakage of pipes in certain areas, reports and complaints from the public are always welcome ‘.
The ministry along with JBALB emphasised that they were committed to ensuring that any disruption of water supply would be promptly resolved.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused which was experienced by the people in the affected areas.
