KUCHING: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin cannot allow elements in the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) and people like Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to create trouble and bring instability and uncertainty to Malaysia, said political analyst Datuk Peter Minos.
He said that Muhyiddin was popular for doing the right thing and making wise decisions.
He believed that if the general election was on soon, Muhyiddin would win even if he had to go up against elements in Umno combining with Pakatan Harapan.
“We are waiting for our prime minister to make a bold and decisive move and settle problems once and for all. We will do our best to ensure that those who are hostile in Umno and Democratic Action Party will never be in power,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 24).
He wondered why Anwar was always stirring things up, thereby creating uncertainly and controversy in Malaysia.
“How many times has he claimed that he is popular and had enough MPs with him to be the Prime Minister? Now he is at it again.”
He pointed out that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was currently in the National Heart Institute and Sabah’s election day was coming up on Sept 26.
“And Anwar has made a bombshell – a false one, all pulling out of thin air. We do not hear of any Umno MPs going to him.”
He said that Gabungan Parti Sarawak was 100 per cent with Muhyiddin. He questioned where Anwar would be able to get sufficient MP numbers to form the federal government and become Prime Minister, describing this as ‘wishful thinking’.
He hoped that Muhyiddin would meet with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as soon as the latter was out of IJN, get the Parliament dissolved, and settle problems arising from a very slim government majority in Parliament.
“We are fed up of characters like Anwar who are always disturbing Muhyiddin.”
