MIRI: In a swift response to multiple emergency calls, the Civil Defence Force (APM) here had a packed schedule as they carried out daring snake-catching operations at three locations on Thursday (May 25).

According to a spokesperson, the first distress call was received at 8.25am, followed by two more at 11am and 12.40pm, each pertaining to separate snake sightings.

The situations involved two king cobras measuring 6.5 feet and half a foot respectively, while the third operation dealt with a half-foot-long whip snake, also known as ular daun.

The initial operation took place behind a residence in Taman Tunku, where a 41-year-old homeowner, engaged in land clearing, stumbled upon a king cobra.

Simultaneously, at the parking area of SK Kampung Bakam, a 41-year-old teacher discovered a small whip snake slithering into the bonnet of her car just as she was preparing to leave for home.

The third incident unfolded within a drain at the Miri Hospital flats, where a 30-year-old staff member conducting cleaning duties spotted a small king cobra inside.
