MIRI: Miri Bulatan Park is temporarily closed from today (Nov 27) until tomorrow (Nov 28) to enable the Miri Bomba to carry out elimination of beehives and other threatening wild bees found at the park.
This was disclosed by the Miri City Council (MCC) in a statement on Sunday.
The statement added that upon receiving the advice from Bomba, the public park shall be closed so as not to pose any safety hazard to the public while the elimination work is being carried out. The council has also displayed notice of park closure at the entrances of the park.
“The City Council regrets that a few park goers have been attacked by wild bees during an unfortunate incident that occurred on Nov 26 (Saturday) and one elderly park goer has died owing to severe wounds caused by multiple stings of the wild bees,” it said.
Precautionary measures will be taken by MCC to ensure the park is free from any safety hazard before it is reopened to the general public.
