MIRI: The much-anticipated Miri City Christmas Parade will take place on Dec 7.
It will showcase festive floats from participating churches and cultural performances with a strong emphasis on the spirit of giving.
“The Christmas Parade aims to spread joy and foster harmony among the diverse communities here,” said Mayor Adam Yii on Monday.
He added that this year’s parade has extended invitations to Miri’s Friendship Cities, including La Trinidad (Philippines), Singkawang City (Indonesia), and Gochang-gun (South Korea), in a bid to strengthen ties and celebrate the festive season together.
The parade will kick off at 5pm with praise and worship, singing, dancing, and a special Christmas concert by participating churches.
One of the highlights will be a performance by local talent Melissa Francis, adding a special touch to the evening.
The parade route, starting and ending at Miri City Fan, will traverse Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Kingsway, Jalan Melayu, Jalan Cina, and Jalan North Yu Seng, among others.
The parade will also feature love gifts – donations collected by participating churches that will be directed to charitable organisations identified by the organising committee.
