MIRI: The champions from northern Sarawak, Miri FA are aiming to take on their challenge higher in the FAM Cup 2019.
Miri Division Football Association president, Mohd Saif Jubaidi said the association is in the process of sending applications to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
According to Mohd Saif, all the documents were completed and was just waiting for a support letter from the Sarawak Football Association (FAS).
“Miri FA team are in the process of sending applications to join or compete in the league (FAM Cup 2019),” he said.
“I think there will be no problem with our application which will be submitted for acceptance,” said Mohd Saif.
He said their main objective to join the league of the country is to give players the chance to exposure their talents to a higher level
“Although it (FAM Cup League) is not as big as the two leagues (Premier League and Super League), I believe it is a stepping stone to advance the career of players who are in this Miri FA team,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Saif recalled all the team matches held at their main court (Stadium Miri).
The Miri FA squad performed well in the LBR 2017/2018 campaign where they were in the top eight (quarter final) before losing 8-3 on aggregate in the hand of Rantau Panjang. Miri FA recorded a 2-2 draw in the first quarterfinal in Miri but lost 6-1 in the second leg.
