KUCHING: The Miri Football Association (Miri FA) are preparing for a vibrant year in 2025, with a comprehensive calendar of events designed to promote football and create opportunities for both young male and female players.
Association President Mohamad Saif Jubaidi recently unveiled a series of key activities for the upcoming year, which will include league competitions, futsal tournaments, and youth development programmes.
“The highlight of our 2025 event will be the annual Division League, set to take place in January or February,” Mohamad Saif told Sarawak Tribune recently.
He also added that the association will also continue its tradition of hosting the Under-20 Carnival, typically held after Hari Raya.
Additionally, Miri will host the Under-16 Yakin Madani Futsal League, a major event scheduled for June. The competition will follow official futsal regulations, with each match lasting 20 minutes, offering players an authentic futsal experience.
“We are committed to maintaining high standards and ensuring that our tournaments adhere to proper football and futsal rules, setting a positive example for the younger generation,” he said.
A major focus for 2025 will be on women’s football, with plans to organise an Under-16 women’s futsal competition to nurture and showcase young female talent.
The association is also prioritising full-format football tournaments, moving away from informal 9-a-side matches, to provide players with opportunities to compete at the highest levels.
With a packed calendar and exciting initiatives ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for football in Miri.
