MIRI: Datuk Lee Kim Shin who is the minister in-charge of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) reiterated his advice to the public in Miri to be more responsible in adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“It is our responsibility to care not only about our health, but others as well. The virus is still around us, so please give your cooperation with the enforcement officers,” Lee said when contacted today.
Lee, who is also Transport Minister, reminded the people in this district not to flout the SOPs and to always practise social distancing following the spike in positive Covid-19 cases in the division recently.
“Avoid crowded places, make sure to always wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser, and avoid close contact with people who are sick,” he said.
On Friday, Miri recorded 28 cases with one fatality.
Meanwhile, the Miri Residents Committee chairman Malateh Mahmud urged the public to be more disciplined in observing the SOPs.
“I would say that the public’s compliance in observing the SOPs is at 40 percent. We need to impose tighter SOPs to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
He added that the conditional movement control order (CMCO) imposed in this district is still at the relaxed stage.
