MIRI: Miri City is gearing up for its inaugural car-free day next Saturday (July 16).
Scheduled to kick off at 6am, the programme will be held along the North Yu Seng road, opposite Miri Wireless Walk.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will be here to officiate the programme. Various recreational and art activities are also set to be held.
The programme is a collaboration between Miri Division Resident’s Office and Miri City Council with the Sarawak Public Communications Unit, Sarawak Tourism Board, Masterpiece Cycling Club, Transformer Fitness Bootcamp and Greatfitness Studio.
The roads that will be closed on the day are Jalan North Yu Seng, Jalan Parry, Jalan Post, Jalan Haji Lampam and Jalan Persekutuan from 6am to 10am.
Road users are advised to comply with the instructions on the signboards provided to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
