MIRI: The state-level birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah this year will be held in Miri on June 4 and 5.
State Transport minister and the minister in Charge Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin announced that the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib will be amongst those present.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit(UKAS),the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Datuk Abang Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang will attend.
“The Thanksgiving Ceremony will be held at Masjid At-Taqwa, Miri and is expected to be attended by 1,200 guests including staff on June 4 at 6pm,” Lee said.
On June 5, a tea ceremony will be held at the Pullman Hotel, Miri at 10 am and it is expected to be attended by 500 guests.
Lee disclosed this yesterday after chairing a meeting with the event‘s committee at the Miri Resident Office.
Also present were Deputy Miri Division Resident Juan Abit, Director of Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) Samuel Simon, Deputy Director of Sarawak State Protocol and Public Relations Unit (UPPANS) Hamdan Sharbini, Deputy Secretary of the Sarawak Federation Banges Munga, Chief of Police Miri District ACP Alexson Naga Chabu and other state officials.
Lee added that to ensure that the celebrations run smoothly, he will be assisted by the Deputy Ministers in Charge, namely the Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development of Sarawak (Food Industry) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Acting Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak (Local Government) Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala.
