MIRI: Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, who is also the Pujut assemblyman, has been bestowed the Kelabit title ‘Raja Ngatan’.
A ceremony took place at the new Miri City Hall during a visit by chieftains and community leaders from 26 villages in Bario Sub-District on Tuesday (June 21). In Kelabit, ‘Raja Ngatan’ means someone with high authority.
The delegation, comprising 0 community leaders, was led by Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala.
They will be in the city until June 25 for a five-day study tour, initiated by the Bario Task Force under the joint chairmanship of Cr John Trawe and Edwn Jelenggai of Bario Sub-District.
Among the agenda are the potential to promote tourism in Bario District as well as the study on waste management in Bario Sub-District.
