KUCHING: Miri district has been declared a Covid-19 red zone.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this came about after a staggering 97 locally transmitted cases were detected in the district within the past 14 days.

He said the districts of Dalat and Beluru had also changed from green to yellow zones after 12 new cases were reported today (Jan 11).

“Kuching and Sibu districts remain as red zones with 112 locally transmitted cases reported in these two districts in the last 14 days.

“The districts of Selangau, Sebauh, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Meradong and Bintulu remain yellow with a total of 12 locally transmitted cases reported in the last 14 days while the other 28 districts in Sarawak are still green,” he said when delivering SDMC’s Covid-19 update today.

The red code is attributed to areas of more than 40 cases, orange 21-40, yellow for one to 20 cases, and green when there is no case.
