MIRI:  Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu stressed the importance of health screenings for all police personnel in the district, particularly those aged 40 and above.

Speaking at the Miri police headquarters (IPD Miri) monthly assembly today, Alexson stressed that regular health check-ups are essential for maintaining the well-being of the police force.

He said the leadership (of PDRM) takes seriously the health of its officers, especially those showing symptoms of chronic diseases.

“I urge police personnel at IPD Miri to undergo health screenings because personal health is crucial. Our leadership is committed to ensuring the health of our force, particularly for those aged 40 and above, who are required to do health screenings,” he said.

He explained that health screenings help in early detection of potential diseases, which is vital for both senior and lower-ranking officers, as well as public officials.

Alexson also addressed the importance of mental health, advising officers experiencing extreme stress, anxiety, or depression to consult a doctor or psychologist at IPD Miri.

“At IPD Miri, we have a public officer assigned to help deal with mental health issues. Those concerned can seek advice to prevent their symptoms from worsening. I emphasise this because I do not want health problems to lead to a decline in our work performance,” he added.

During the assembly, 32 police officers and personnel from various ranks received certificates of excellence from Alexson.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol was also present; he also supported the call for health screenings.
