MIRI: A field hospital has been proposed by the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) to prepare for any possible increase in Covid-19 cases here.

It will also alleviate congestion Miri Hospital may face as a referral hospital for Limbang, Lawas and Marudi following the increase in cases recently.

The field hospital, if allowed to proceed, is expected to provide adequate facilities to monitor Covid-19 patients, especially those under Category 3 and Category 4.

The proposal is currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Today the Miri DDMC held a meeting chaired by Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin, who is state Transport Minister, and visited the proposed site for the field hospital.

The meeting was also attended by Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, the deputy chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Also present were Miri acting resident Jamalie Busri, State Enforcement and Security Unit (UKPN) director Datuk Clarence Rorote Sagan, Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu, representative from Miri Divisional Health Office Dr Wong Khung Ying, state Public Works Department (PWD) architect Fam Ching Yiing as well as departments and agencies under Miri DDMC.
