MIRI: The Miri Public Library, previously situated at the Miri Civic Centre, has relocated to the old Miri City Council (MCC) building and is now fully operational.
Mayor Datuk Adam Yii Siew Sang said the library had been operating from the Miri Civic Centre since 1988.
“The library has served the community for so long. Unfortunately, the building was not owned by the MCC, which limited our plans to enhance services to the public.
“At the same time, this move provides MCC with greater flexibility to renovate and establish new facilities, benefiting the community,” he said.
He said this during the official opening ceremony of the library at the old MCC building here yesterday (Aug 17).
The operating hours for the public library will remain the same: Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 am to 7 pm, and on Sunday, from 9 am to 3 pm.
Present at the event were the MCC acting secretary Abdul Rahman Taupek, department heads, and government officials.
