MIRI: The Welfare, Health and Community Sub-Committee of Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri branch visited two families with poor socio-economic background at Sealine Senadin Jaya here yesterday.
During the visits, the chairman of the Sub-Committee, Dr Uma Devi delivered a short talk ‘Dangers of Plastics, Importance of Cleanliness and Healthy Food’ to educate the family members.
This visit then continued with a briefing by Roslan Ali from Miri City Council (MCC) to the two families on the services provided by the council and the approach for highlighting related issues to the council.
The team also brought along stainless steel food containers to be distributed to the members of the two families as part of the exercise to stress on the dangers of plastic containers.
These stainless steel food containers were donated by a group of anonymous donors and MRC Miri Branch took the opportunity to express its appreciation to this group.
“Such visits will be organised from time to time and we hope there are more volunteers that can come forward and join us to make this community a better place,” she said.
