MIRI: Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf retired on March 28 after serving the state government for more than 38 years.
He served the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) for 19 years before moving to the Chief Minister’s Department for three years.
Abdul Aziz also served as the Miri District Officer and Miri Division Deputy Resident before taking on the role of Miri Division Resident on July 1, 2021.
He was also a member of the Sarawak Harakah Islamiah (HIKMAH) supreme council, significantly contributing to dakwah activities in the state.
Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported that a farewell gathering for him was held concurrently with the Miri Division Administration’s iftar event yesterday (March 29).
In his speech, Abdul Aziz thanked staff of the Miri Division Administration for their cohesive support and cooperation.
“I pray that the Resident and District Offices (RANDO) staff will be blessed with good health and strength to continue providing the best services in achieving Sarawak’s goal of becoming an advanced state by 2030,” he said.
Meanwhile, Miri District Officer Siti Rohanie Yusof praised Abdul Aziz for being a caring and focused Resident and for bridging the urban-rural development gap through various development plans and projects.
“He has a visionary outlook and is always ready to contribute insightful ideas for the development of Miri, including the Urban Renewal Project and Miri Smart City,” she said.
Also present were Subis District Officer Norlila Ulis, Marudi District Officer Belayong Pok, representatives from the District Offices, and staff from the Miri Division Resident’s Office, Miri District Office, and UKAS.
