MIRI: Miri division is expanding its capacity of dispensing vaccines in order to achieve herd immunity.
Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) minister in charge Datuk Lee Kim Shin said with a total 40 vaccinations centres (PPVs) being set up, including 19 to be activated, Miri will be able to dispense up to 16, 400 doses per day.
Lee, who is also Transport Minister, said that currently in Miri there are 13 PPVs including four being established at private health medical centres (providing Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines) while one PPV will be dispensing the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“All these PPVs are capable of dispensing a total of 7, 600 doses per day,” he said.
In Subis district, five PPVs are able to dispense 2,600 doses per day; six PPVs in Beluru district (1,800 doses per day); Marudi district’s five PPVs could (1,800 doses per day) and 11 PPVs in Telang Usan (2,600 doses per day).
On another note, another PPV at the Dato’ Lee Teck Fook Stadium Riam Road Secondary School (RRSS) will be open and to start dispensing vaccines on the 17 June (Thursday).
“This PPV will have the capacity to dispense 1,500 doses of vaccines per day,” Lee said.
