SIBU: A local man will spend the next three months in prison after he failed to pay a fine for committing mischief.

Magistrate Punitha Sivaraji fined Gerald Chua Kah Cheah a sum of RM2,500, in default three months’ imprisonment after convicting him of the offence.

Chua, 30, from Jalan Selasih Timur pleaded no contest to committing mischief by causing damage to several items belonging to a house owner in Lorong Lajung at about 3pm on May 30.

The damaged items included a wall mirror, baby bathtub and plastic basket.

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Harvind Raja Gopal appeared for the prosecution.
