KUCHING: Sarawak Tribune’s editor-in-chief Aden Nagrace has lodged a police report concerning a misleading article that has gone viral on social media.

The report was filed at the Gita Police Station. Aden was accompanied by Senior Manager of Corporate Business Division, Dorge Rajah.

The article in question, titled “If Sarawak can look after itself, there is no reason to remain in a failed federation,” features an image of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg owned by the Sarawak Tribune.

Aden clarified that the Premier had never made such a statement and the article contained false information.

He added that the original image, published by the Sarawak Tribune on October 9, 2019, was used without permission and altered by irresponsible parties.

The original title of the article was “After 56 Years, S’wak Capable of Looking After Itself.”

Furthermore, the misleading article falsely attributed its publication to the Sarawak Tribune by including the newspaper’s website address. Aden expressed concern that this could damage the newspaper’s and that of the premier’s reputation.
