BINTANGOR: A father who was reported missing after failing to return home from looking for snails at Rumah Selat, Sungai Janting, was found safe but exhausted today.

Rescuers are seen working to bring the victim out of the area by boat.

The 54-year-old man was found by his son around 9.15am in a small creek near Sungai Janting.

A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department (Bomba) said via a press release the victim was found in a state of exhaustion about 2km from the search and rescue (SAR) control post.

He was taken from the area by boat and safely arrived at the SAR control post at around 11.30am.

He was later taken to the Bintangor health clinic for a medical examination.

Earlier his wife lodged a missing person report at the Bintangor police station. This was after her husband did not return home from a trip looking for snails at the river starting from 4pm yesterday.

As soon as the department received a call from the police, firemen from Bintangor station were promptly rushed to the scene to commence the search operation.
