SIBU: A dock coolie who was feared to have drowned at Pulau Babi here last Saturday has been identified as 48-year-old Hii Kee Soon.

The victim was reported missing after he fell into the river while loading goods onto the express boats.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie, in a statement yesterday, said that the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation resumed at 6.45 am.

“The operation was carried out via water surface searching and grappling iron technique within a radius of 500 metres from the location where the victim fell.

“The search is also being conducted vigorously using the same methods along the Batang Rajang  towards the upstream.

“At 12.30 pm, the team has conducted two rounds of search covering a distance of five kilometres,” he said.

Andy said that the team had yet to find any traces of the victim as of 3 pm yesterday.

The second day of SAR operation resumes.
