MIRI: An elderly man from Kampung Tiris Masjid in Bekenu, who has been missing since Monday (March 20) while walking towards his orchard, has been found alive today (March 25).

Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Awangku Mohd Hazmin Awang Zainal said the victim, Salim Idris, was found by Indonesian workers of an oil palm estate located about 10 kilometres from his house at 7.15am.

“He was sitting next to an excavator of the plantation estate when the workers found him this morning,” he said.

On Monday, the 72-year-old victim was reported missing after failing to return home from his orchard in Kampung Tiris Masjid, Bekenu.

“The day after (on March 21), villagers from Kampung Bulau found him, and they sent him until they reached the bridge near his house.

“However, he did not walk back to his home,” he added.

Following this, the search and rescue operation ended at 8.30am.
