SERIAN: The body of an elderly man, reported missing after failing to return home in Kampung Slabi Empurung since Sept 21, has been found yesterday (Sept 28).

Authorities have identified the deceased as Jambung Ajui, 83, whose body was discovered at around 2.10pm, after a six-day search operation that began on Sept 23.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that Jambung’s body was found about 1km from the search and rescue (SAR) control post.

His remains were handed over to the police for transport to the hospital.

The search operation was officially called off at 3.26pm.

On Sept 21, Jambung had reportedly left his home around 5.30pm and did not return. Concerned for his father’s safety, his son filed a missing person’s report with the police the next day (Sept 22).

The search operation involved firefighters from Serian station, two Bomba K9 units, Serian police, the Civil Defence Force (APM), and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).
