MUKAH: An elderly man feared drowned near Kampung Tanjung Pedada jetty today, was found dead shortly after he was reported missing.
Prior to the incident, a witness said the 58-year-old victim identified as Ajeman Saini, was about to get on a boat but suddenly fell into Batang Mukah.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distressed call around 10.20am and despatched firemen from Mukah station to the scene.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was promptly carried out with the locals to locate the missing man around the area where he fell.
Eventually, the victim’s body was found around 11.05am before it was retrieved and brought back to the jetty.
The body was handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital.
