MIRI: A fisherman from Kampung Sealine, Lutong, who has been missing for two days, is found safe inside his fishing boat on Sunday after drifting into Brunei’s waters (Stutong).

The man, Baji Berinau, 46, was found at around 10.24 am, disclosed Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation centre.

According to Bomba, Berinau’s boat drifted into Brunei’s waters after the boat engine ran out of fuel.

He was discovered by several fishermen from Brunei, who later helped him to put fuel in his boat and alerted the authorities on the discovery.

Baji was then brought to Marina Bay jetty here.

With the discovery, the search and rescue (SAR) operation was halted.

On Saturday afternoon, Baji’s brother, Steve Berinau, 44, lodged a police report after Baji failed to return home after going out to the sea alone early that morning. A SAR operation was then mounted to look for him.
