MIRI: Seven men reported missing near Bakam Waterfall, were found safe earlier today (July 2) after they managed to navigate their way out of the area on their own.

The ordeal began when one of the men contacted the Miri Sentral fire station at 3.14 pm, reporting that the group had lost their way in the forest near the waterfall and required assistance.

The call was abruptly cut off, and subsequent attempts to communicate with the group failed.

In response, Miri Sentral firefighters quickly deployed to the site to begin search and rescue operations, assisted by local villagers.

Upon their arrival, the search teams found that all seven individuals had already exited the forest.

One man, who had sustained a minor hand injury after slipping, received first aid at the scene.

The group, comprising individuals aged 19 to 22, expressed their relief upon reuniting with the villagers and rescue team.

Following the incident, the department is advising the public to exercise caution during outdoor activities and to notify local authorities or villagers before embarking on such ventures.
