LINGGA: The body of a 25-year-old man who fell into Batang Lupar last Friday was found yesterday morning.

Sri Aman Civil Defence Force (APM) officer, Captain Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said the body of Mohd Harfa Mahdihi was found by the search and rescue (SAR) personnel in Sungai Berangan, Tanjung Beliung, about 11 kilometres from the jetty in Lingga town at around 11.00am.

“The remains were taken to Sri Aman hospital for a post mortem before being claimed by family members for burial,” she said.

Last Friday, Mohd Harfa was said to be sitting on the standing shelter of his father’s boat when he fell into the river at around 2.30pm.

His father lodged a police report after he realised the deceased was missing after arriving at the jetty in Lingga town.
