MIRI: A worker who was reported missing while inspecting Sarawak-Sabah Interstate gas Pipeline (SSGP) in the remote jungle of Tinjar, Baram on Friday afternoon (Nov 13), was found alive on Saturday (Nov14). It was done with the help of a drone.
According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operation centre (Bomba), the man, identified as Douglas Tibi, has been found safe and alive despite sustaining some light injuries. He was found about 2km from the last location he was reported missing.
The man was spotted by a drone belonging to SSGP.
Meanwhile, a team from Lopeng fire station led by Terry Robson was reportedly on their way to the location which takes about four hours of driving via logging road.
Douglas was reported missing by his colleagues on Friday afternoon around 3pm. This was after he failed to show up at a spot where they were supposed to meet after carrying out the inspection along the 4km pipeline on that day.
His co-workers had waited at the spot until 8pm that Friday (Nov 13), before they lodged a missing person report.
Following on the report lodged, a search and rescue operation was immediately activated.
