MUKAH: The authorities need to take immediate action on the issue of erosion at the Mukah riverbank in the area between Sungai Penakub Hilir and Sungai Tellian.
Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said this in a meeting with the implementing agencies at the Mukah MP’s Office here.
At the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) two days ago, Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine also voiced the problem and called for a solution.
A survey conducted by Suara Sarawak/New Sarawak Tribune showed that the Mukah riverbank has suffered more erosion thus raising concerns and problems for the community.
Residents living in Kampung Datu and Penakub Hilir here fear if the situation worsens, the land on the riverbank will continue to collapse when hit by waves and high tides.
