LUNDU: In the intense second round of the men’s beach volleyball knockout stage at the ongoing 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma), Sarawak experienced mixed fortunes.

The matches took place on Monday (Aug 19) at the Union Retreat & Training Centre here, where one of Sarawak’s teams continued its quest for victory, while the other was eliminated.

Sarawak B showcased resilience and determination in their clash against Sabah B. The match was a nail-biter, with both sets going into extra points.

Sarawak B triumphed with identical scores of 26-24 in both sets, securing their place in the next round of the knockout competition, scheduled for the following day.

However, Sarawak A’s journey came to an abrupt end after a tough match against Terengganu A.

The Sarawak A team struggled to find their rhythm and were outplayed, losing both sets with scores of 9-21 and 8-21, resulting in their elimination from the competition.

Sarawak B will now carry the state’s hopes as they continue their quest for glory in the upcoming matches.

Sarawak B is represented by Tay Wen Qiang and Alex Moon Ming Kong, while Sarawak A comprised Viennly Jerrycal Vincent Jerry and Valentherry Surau.

Present to witness the match was Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang.
