MIRI: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Miri zone has arrested an Indonesian fishing vessel for illegal fishing activities in Malaysian waters.
The vessel was intercepted 49 nautical miles northwest of Tanjung Payong at approximately 5.30 pm on Saturday (Nov 9), said Miri maritime zone director Mohd Khairol Anuar Saad.
The three Indonesian crew members, aged between 22 and 38, including the captain, were detained and are currently being held at the Miri Vessel Detention Centre.
“The vessel was found to be in violation of the Fisheries Act 1985,” said Mohd Khairol.
