200 longhouse residents get first jab

DALAT: A total of 200 people from five longhouses have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine during the Covid-19 Vaccination Outreach Programme at Ulu Baoh near here on Friday.

The programme, which was under Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) Dalat district, began at Rumah Simu with 37 recipients, followed by Rumah Agup (37), Rumah Bihai (68), Rumah Sigah (53) and Rumah Ranggi (five).

Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir said the programme was the first one to be organised, either through outreach effort or at health clinics.

Hamdiah, who is also Mukah Divison Disaster Management Committee chairperson, added another 280 people received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine today (June 26).

“Many people here want to be vaccinated, and thank you Penghulu Sebastian Sintan, Dalat district officer Kueh Lei Poh and Mukah Division Health Department for the initiative,” she said at the programme at Rumah Simu on Friday.

She also thanked the people for their understanding and for agreeing to receive the vaccine toward helping to achieve herd immunity, while protecting their health.

Dr Amy Syakirah Furzane Azizan from Mukah Division Health Department also attended the event.
