KUCHING: Relief is on the horizon for Julau residents as the Ministry of Health (MoH) has approved the construction of a new Type 4 health clinic in the area, addressing congestion and shortages in medical supplies and equipment at the local health clinic.
Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng said that the project is currently in the design phase.
“In a recent parliamentary question-and-answer session, I highlighted the critical need for a new clinic in Julau. The existing facility is stretched beyond its capacity due to our growing population,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday (Mar 19).
The MoH has outlined a timeline for the new clinic, with construction expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025 and a preparatory period spanning three years.
Additionally, plans for residential quarters are underway, including accommodations for health workers, the Julau District Health Office, and eight Class G quarters.
“The establishment of these new facilities will not only alleviate current pressures but also expand healthcare services to include outpatient departments, maternal and child health, emergency services, laboratory and imaging services and dental care,” he added.
